i talk about myself ....

I spent my weekend in Haldern, having an absolutely excellent time and seeing a few bands and being happy enough and SWEATING and swimming and eating really nice chickpea rice mush from little Indian bloke's stall. It was so nice....i mean, I know as well as Franz Ferdinand do that it's always better on holiday, but that one was still one to remember. the best bands I saw were..

  • The Divine Comedy, with full orchestra. That was the last band we saw, at about 1 a.m. and some songs were absolutely amazing. Especially because it was still warm outside and we saw a falling star behind the stage, almost everyone in the audience was paying attention, and they covered a Queens of the Stone Age song.
  • Starsailor. I think these guys are my personal favourite. I never thought much of them and they just turned it around by being gorgeous, so nice and well entertaining. They really were enjoying themselves.
  • Keane. Another surprisingly good band, especially their singer was very impressive because he was not only the perfect entertainer, but also really energetic. He made them look like proper rock'n'roll for a band without guitars.
  • Kings of Leon. What can I say, great music, but they looked kind of bored, like they've played it all far too often now and it's not fresh anymore.
  • Paul Weller. Not much of a comment, I just enjoyed it, we were sat down on the grass, not looking at the stage much, just talking and enjoying the music, but it's still one of the best memories. And "that's entertainment" is of course a fantastic song.
  • Adam Green. I dunno......my, was he wasted...his show was funny to watch, but was it really the best he could give?? Could he please try again without the major drugs bit?

Those were my favourites anyway....we also saw I am Kloot, dEUS and Embrace. And there was this lake, in the middle of nowhere but next to the festival area, in the middle of trees, and in a 32 degree heatwave, so we went swimming. It was just great, listening to bands while you're swimming. I think I'm in love with Haldern 2004.
